At our most recent BANA Board meeting, we met with Officer Mock, our DPD Community Engagement Officer (you may have spotted her at national Night Out, too). She’s our contact in the Police Department and serves as a resource for the community for follow-up around crimes. She offered a few online resources (see column opposite) and mentioned a number of personal safety tips. Here are a few of them:
- Make sure your porch is visible from the street
- Keep windows and doors locked.
- Be attentive to your surroundings and know who your neighbors are. Greet each other on the street.
- Report anything that seems suspicious—call 911 if you’re not sure whether it’s urgent.
We had another successful National Night Out on August 1 this year. If you missed it, our next neighborhood party will be on Halloween, in the park as usual. Hopefully between now and then we’ll have plenty of casual beer gatherings on the roof at Grub.
Board meetings are open to ALL residents of the neighborhood. See the calendar on the sidebar for upcoming meetings.
